the perspective this gives makes you feel this creature was real, which it was of course, but it really makes you think. I love these.

I always take this into consideration myself, and ever since I was a kid, I've always wondered and dreamt what a modern world with mesozoic fauna would be like. Too bad it wasn't considered "normal" to the soccer-croud dictatorship of my chilhood and today...

It's a policotylid, a short-necked cousin of plesiosaurs ("Nessie") :)

Great piece as always - but one humble correction - the fins were likely attached or very close to the body like those of dolphins or turtles, without "stalks" like those seen here.

Just corrected it! It did look a bit weird, now that you've mentioned it.. Please feel free to point out any mistakes you find in my illustrations, as I like to keep them as accurate as possible :D

That looks awesome! :) What is the creature we're viewing here? A polycotylid? :?

Yes :) It's not meant to be any particular species, but a generic polycotylid.

That's funny, i've been thinking about this recently. Let me finish this aquarium series and I'll think about doing a "pterosauriary" ;)
