Diplodocus Parade (Version 2.0)

Description

Today, the 4th of March, is officially the 1-year-anniversary of my first paleoart image, Diplodocus Parade, and to celebrate that I decided to redo it with all the experience I've acquired through these last twelve months.

Man, what a difference.

I won't say this version is better than the original, that would be unfair. It was another time, under other circunstances, and I'd rather think of it as an important milestone in my development than as just an inferior work. But it's kind of amazing how much can change in a person's style and skill over time.

Let this be an encouragement for all the young and/or inexperienced artists out there that wish to improve art-wise. Compare your newer work with something you've made one year ago. Try to re-do a particular piece you like. See how much you've got better at it, and realize how even better you will become during next year!

If you're interested, here's a side-by-side comparison: [link]

About the scene itself, it's just a bunch of sauropods crossing a dry plain in search of new feeding grounds, while random rhamphorynchus make them company for aparrently no good reason :D

why are sauropods always pictured being gray or tan? moderns large (fully terrestrial) herbivores (such as giraffes, Okapi, Bovids, etc) have orange, white, occasional spots or stripes, etc. it'd help sauropods blend in to the trees.
